The hot metal mixer is mainly used for long-term storage of molten iron and maintaining proper smelting temperature of molten iron. During operation, the temperature in the iron furnace is generally maintained at about 1350℃, and the temperature of the furnace shell is 300 to 400℃. When molten iron is injected into the iron mixing furnace, the molten iron will have a certain mechanical impact on the furnace lining due to the large drop.
In addition, in order to maintain the temperature of the molten iron in the furnace, the fuel is also injected for flame heating, which also exerts a certain thermal stress on the lining materials. Therefore, the lining materials of the mixer is subject to chemical corrosion and penetration of molten iron and slag, temperature changes and thermal stresses generated inside the material. Also, when the mixed iron furnace is tilted, the furnace lining brick is also affected by a large mechanical action due to the large mass.
According to the working environment of the mixer and the causes of the damage, the requirements for the refractory materials are analyzed as follows: mechanical strength, strong slag resistance, good thermal shock resistance, low thermal conductivity, and little change in the reheating line. The refractory materials used are magnesia bricks, magnesia chrome bricks, high alumina bricks, clay bricks and some refractory fillers. At the same time, due to the problems of partial damage during the use of the mixer, the refractory spray coating is generally used for repairing. The materials used are determined according to the masonry of the lining. There are two types of lining: magnesium and aluminum-magnesium.
