What do you know about the raw minerals that directly produce refractory materials
Refractory materials are resource-based industries, raw materials are the basis of products, and natural mineral raw materials are the main body of refractory raw materials.
There are many kinds of natural refractory mineral raw materials, such as: magnesite, high alumina bauxite, dolomite, zircon, chromite, kyanite mineral, silica, graphite, olivine, pyrophyllite and so on.
Generally, the chemical mineral components of natural raw materials are unstable, have many impurities and large fluctuations in performance. They can not be directly used as refractory raw materials, and if they can be used to produce refractory materials after being processed by classification, purification, calcination or electric melting. Only a few natural refractory mineral raw materials exist in nature as pure minerals, with few impurity minerals, and contain no or a small amount (about 5%) of crystal water, such as: silica, pyrophyllite, olivine, andalusite, which can directly produce refractory products. These natural mineral raw materials do not shrink or expand at high temperature, or shrink or expand slightly, with stable performance.
(1) Directly using natural refractory mineral raw materials to produce refractory materials, without calcination (or electrofusion), making full use of resources, simplifying production processes, saving energy and reducing emissions, reducing production costs, and protecting the environment, is one of the development directions of refractory technology.
(2) In addition to a few natural raw materials such as magnesite and dolomite, most of the natural refractory mineral raw materials can be directly used because of the excessive reduction in ignition and need to be calcined or fused. However, the largest amount of high-alumina bauxite is only a successful trial production of individual units. If it is to be promoted nationwide, all Al2O2-SiO2 refractories use bauxite raw materials, there is still a long way to go.
(3)The refractory industry needs to take it as a subject, directly produce refractory materials from natural refractory mineral raw materials. And conduct in-depth and meticulous research from theory to practice, which not only reduces the production cost of refractory materials, but also saves energy and reduces emissions and protects the environment.
