Application of high alumina bricks, carbon bricks and aluminum chrome bricks in zinc smelting furnace

In the smelting process of zinc, the lining materials should be in contact with molten metal, slag and furnace gas, which require good slag resistance of refractory materials and masonry. At the same time, in order to adapt the high temperature during zinc smelting, the lining materials should have sufficient refractoriness, refractoriness under load, and erosion resistance.

At present, the lining refractory materials below the bottom of the zinc-smelting electric furnace and the slag line of the furnace wall are selected in the following forms:

(1) Carbon bricks are used entirely, and have a service life of 4 to 5 months. The disadvantage is that the masonry brick joints have poor slag resistance and are prone to occur carbon bricks and bleached bricks at the bottom of the furnace. The advantage is that a solidified pseudo-furnace liner which is lower than the melt temperature can be formed, which can greatly reduce the loss of the refractory materials, achieve the purpose of prolonging the service life of the lining, increasing the smelting strength of the reaction zone, and improving the productivity.

(2) All use chromium slag bricks, the service life can reach 4 to 5 months, the disadvantage is high cost.

(3) The chromium slag brick used in the bottom of the furnace and the carbon brick for below the slag line of the furnace wall can last for 4 to 5 months. This combination can not only guarantee a certain lining life, but also reduce the cost of the lining. This combination of furnace materials is more suitable for use.

(4)High alumina bricks are used in all cases. At present, only 1~2 manufacturers are trying, and it is recommended that it is not suitable at present. Because of its successful application in similar zinc powder electric furnaces in smelting process, the life of the lining can reach 10~12 months, and the cost is very low. It is worthy of further research and exploration. If it is successful, it is worthy of widespread application.
